How to Create a WH-347 From Gusto Payroll Reports

Updated November 6, 2026. General information, not legal advice.

General payroll systems are built for paychecks, not for this form. A WH-347 needs hours for each day, on one project, split by classification. A payroll report alone doesn't have that, so you need two files.

File 1: the payroll report

In Gusto, run a Payroll Journal for the pay period and download it as a CSV. Gusto's report layouts change over time, so the exact options may differ. Form347 looks for gross pay, net pay, taxes, FICA and deductions. It skips title rows above the headers, and it leaves out employer-paid taxes so nothing gets counted twice.

Gusto reports dates by check date rather than pay period, so make sure the report covers just the week you're certifying.

File 2: daily hours

Export hours from whichever time tracking you use. The file needs a worker name, a date and hours. A job column lets you filter to one project, and hours on other jobs still count toward overtime. A spreadsheet with one column per weekday works too.

Put them together

  1. Open the app and enter your project details.
  2. Add both CSV files and press Build this payroll.
  3. Check that every worker matched, then review each line.
  4. Add classifications and any fringe credits, certify, and download.

Names need to match between the files. If they don't, the app tells you who's missing instead of guessing.

Skip the retyping. Try Form347 with sample data. Your files never leave your browser.
